Pianist Folke Gräsbeck performs some of the most popular piano works by Oskar Merikanto (1868–1924), from Kesäillan valssi [Waltz of the summer evening] to Idylli and the Variations on Kesäpäivä Kangasalla [Summer day in Kangasala]. The programme also includes rarely heard works such as the Variations on Älä itke, äitini [Do not weep, O mother], Fennia rediviva and Barcarolle.

The recital will include a panel discussion where Professor Timo Virtanen, pianist Anu Vehviläinen and pianist Risto-Matti Marin discuss the piano works of Merikanto, who lived at the time of the Civil War.
